Bishop James Wright Jr.


Bishop James Wright Jr is the Pastor/Teacher of the Zion Hill Baptist Church Truth Center located in Douglasville, GA where he has served loyally for over thirty-six years! Prior to pastoring at Zion Hill Baptist Church Truth Center, in 1976, he was called to pastor at the North Avenue Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA where he was a very inspiring and energetic man of God. Many members were added to the church where he served as Pastor for one year. God had another undertaking for Bishop Wright, after leaving North Avenue Missionary Baptist Church; he began pastoring at Mt Pleasant Baptist Church in Scottsdale, GA for one year.

A proud and humble native of Scottsdale, GA, Bishop Wright commenced his preaching ministry in 1975 and has been a minister of the gospel for forty-two years. Bishop Wright, furthered his education by attending Columbia Theological Seminary, ITC, Liberty Baptist College in Lynchburg, VA., and the C.R.I. Institute of Religious Studies. He is a Christian Counselor to lay persons and ministries alike. He was called to Preach, Lead, and to Worship. He loves the Lord, and he is filled with the Holy Ghost! On May 7, 2017, he was elevated to the Office of Bishop in the Mantle Covenant Fellowship.

Under the leadership of Bishop Wright, God has blessed and favored him in so many ways. Many have come to know Christ and have accepted him as their Lord and Savior. During his tenure at Zion Hill Baptist Church Truth Center, the ground-breaking, construction, and completion of a new church edifice was erected. God has blessed Bishop Wright with eleven sons and daughters in the Ministry, of which three are Pastors. He is a Leader, Preacher, Teacher, and a Friend. Bishop Wright is Pastor of one of many African American congregations in Douglasville, GA.

Bishop Wright has been very instrumental in the Douglasville community as well as outside of the Douglasville community. He implemented the Zion Hill Feed the Hungry Ministry as well as the Feed the Hungry Ministry for the homeless in downtown Atlanta. He participated in leading the opening prayer for the monthly Douglasville City Council meetings, he performed the invocation and participated in the 2007 Unity March in Douglasville sponsored by West Metro NAACP/Genarlow Wilson and the Freedom Fund Banquet. Bishop Wright was a participant in the prayer visual for the family of Trayvon Martin where he led daily prayer in 2012/2013 prior to the trial. Bishop Wright and First Lady Sarah Wright sponsored a child from Uganda under the "Pennies for Posho" partnership to help feed the children in Africa. On October 18, 2010, the City of Douglasville declared this date as Pastor Wright Day in Douglasville. Through the kindness of Georgia Representative Kimberly Alexander, he was nominated to deliver the invocation at the State Capital for the House Speaker during the opening session in 2016. Bishop Wright, alongside his wife, First Lady Sarah Wright, was blessed to travel abroad to Israel to visit the Holy Land in the winter of 2014 where they both were baptized in the Jordan River. He was also blessed to travel to the Field of the Woods Bible Park in Murphy, NC where he baptized members of Zion Hill Baptist Church Truth Center and bystanders in the Baptismal Pool September of 2001. Bishop Wright was privileged to have presided during the funeral service of Alice S. Hawthorne who was killed in the Atlanta Centennial Olympic Bombing in July of 1996.

Bishop James Wright Jr has been married to the love of his life, Sarah Wright, for fifty-four years. They have been blessed with four daughters, and one son: {Barbara, Sybil, Angelia, Deloris, James Jr}, eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two God grandchildren.
